Kara discovered her passion for photography and makeup artistry at the age of 15 during a half-day work experience at a photo portrait studio. The experience ignited her desire to celebrate people, making them feel beautiful and special, both inside and out. Eager to pursue her passion, Kara immersed herself in all aspects of photography.
She honed her makeup artistry skills at Cut Above before earning a coveted spot as one of 18 individuals accepted into a Certificate of Photography at Unitc, chosen from over 400 applicants. Over two enriching years, Kara not only learned photography extensively but also had the opportunity to assist some of New Zealand's top portrait and commercial advertising photographers. She further enriched her experience by working in a portrait studio as the makeup and hair artist.
Kara's journey led her to Melbourne, where she spent four years working in one of the city's premier portrait studio. During this time, she assisted renowned advertising photographers and served as the head retoucher for a top wedding studio. Returning to New Zealand and starting a family, Kara established her own portrait studio in Auckland. Here, she captures the essence of family, pregnancies, newborns, and individuals. Taking on every role from design consultation and styling to hair and makeup, photographer, and retouching, Kara values the opportunity to bring her clients' visions to life through the photoshoots.
Her dedication and commitment to achieving the highest standards for her clients have earned Kara multiple worldwide awards in photography for her images. She is recognized as an accredited Portrait Master Photographer, and her work has been featured in Vogue Photovogue online. Kara's passion shines through in her ability to build cherished relationships with her clients, many of whom become close friends.
